English Cottage
The English cottage garden is most easily recognised by its informal planting style with billowing flowers overflowing onto paths, fragrant roses covering arbours and altogether softer lines throughout. Layering in the large borders is key in this type of design by allowing tall perennials at the back of the border giving way to decreasing heights nearing the front.
Focal points are created at end of paths, rills or ponds by the use of seating, stone structures or statues.
